Jou rney Academy is the academy for the next wave of l eaders. The academy ignites young people ages 3rd grade through 12th grade with FREE engaging hybrid 6-week courses focused on Young Readers Culturall y Specific Books\, Youth Peer Support Specialist T raining Training\, Black Studies\, and Computer Co ding classes. The classes are offered every second and fourth Saturday of the month\, 10:00am-2:00pm . Youth will be able to connect with youth from ac ross the state and be provided with a light lunch and homework support as well.
\n \nYouth wil l be able to register for one of the above listed courses per 6 week session. Families can register for sessions ahead of time throughout the year

Black Studies:
\n \nIn thes
e courses\, students will gain an introduction to
coding as students get acquainted with the princip
les of programming\, algorithm\, logic\, and langu
age. Computer coding is the language of the future
and REAP aims to ensure our future leaders can co
mmunicate this skill in their communities.
Young Readers: Digital Music Production: The course will cover the basics of digital pro
duction using BandLab. Students will learn to brea
k down music into its components and create musica
l compositions. These compositions will serve as a
form of guided self-expression. This course aims
to give students the tools to use music as a means
of expression and positive emotional regulation\n \n Leadership in Policy<
/span>: In this c
ourse\, youth will learn how Oregon’s policy proce
sses work\, learn about recent\, current\, and upc
oming policy projects to get engaged with. Youth w
ill learn the skills to navigate state policy\, re
view legislative bills\, and create board presenta
