 eaders. The academy ignites young people ages 3rd 
 grade through 12th grade with FREE engaging hybrid
  6-week courses focused on Young Readers Culturall
 y Specific Books\, Black Studies\, Leadership in P
 olicy and Computer Coding classes. The classes are
  offered every second and fourth Saturday of the m
 onth\, 10:00am-2:00pm. Youth will be able to conne
 ct with youth from across the state and be provide
 d with a light lunch and homework support as well.

 dies class is intended to call students on a journ
 ey of self discovery and increased awareness of Af
 rican and African American History. Students will 
 be challenged to engage in conversations\, activit
 ies\, and projects which move students towards a s
 tronger understanding of their history.</p>\n \n <
 p><strong>Computer Coding: </strong></p>\n \n <p>I
 n these courses\, students will gain an introducti
 on to coding as students get acquainted with the p
 rinciples of programming\, algorithm\, logic\, and
  language. Computer coding is the language of the 
 future and REAP aims to ensure our future leaders 
 can communicate this skill in their communities. <
 /p>\n \n <p><strong>Young Readers:</strong></p>\n 
 \n <p>In this space\, youth in grades 3-5 will hav
 e the opportunity to practice reading culturally s
 pecific books with teachers who are passionate abo
 ut youth literacy. </p>\n \n <p><strong>Leadership
  in Policy:</strong></p>\n \n <p>In this course\, 
 youth will learn how Oregon’s policy processes wor
 k\, learn about recent\, current\, and upcoming po
 licy projects to get engaged with. Youth will lear
 n the skills to navigate state policy\, review leg
 islative bills\, and create board presentations.</
