Journey Academy
Journey Academy is the academy for the next wave of leaders. The academy ignites young people ages 3rd grade through 12th grade with FREE engaging hybrid 6-week courses focused on Young Readers Culturally Specific Books, Peer Support CTE Training, Black studies, business, and technology classes. The classes are offered every second and fourth Saturday of the month, 10:00am-2:00pm. Youth will be able to connect with youth from across the state and be provided with a light lunch and homework support as well. The first classes will begin Oct 12th. Youth will be able to register for one of the above listed courses per 6 week session. Families can register for sessions ahead of time throughout the year
Black Studies:
REAP’s Black Studies class is intended to call students on a journey of self discovery and increased awareness of African and African American History. Students will be challenged to engage in conversations, activities, and projects which move students towards a stronger understanding of their history.
Entrepreneurship & Business:
REAP’s Entrepreneurship & Business class creates opportunities for students to unleash their innovation and explore ways to create their own wealth to become self-sufficient.
In bringing to scale entrepreneurial opportunities for students. Students develop baseline skills in pursuing business ventures, strengthening public speaking skills, and foster networking skills to build relationships with community members, mentors, and potential business investors.
Computer Coding:
In these courses, students will gain an introduction to coding as students get acquainted with the principles of programming, algorithm, logic, and language. Computer coding is the language of the future and REAP aims to ensure our future leaders can communicate this skill in their communities.
Young Readers:
In this space, youth in grades 3-5 will have the opportunity to practice reading culturally specific books with teachers who are passionate about youth literacy.
